Default Plantium Edition Features

Does anyone know what the Plantium edition of a 1999/2000 GS4 have vs. a "stock" GS4?

Also, the rims looked like 16" instead of 17", is that so?

the differences in the 2000 platinum editions (the only year they were made from the factory) vs. a regular gs are:
1.perforated leather seating
2.platinum badging and embrodiery on the floormats
3. black pearl instead of chrome emblems
4. larger exhaust tips
5. 16" 7-spoke wheels
6. 6-disc cd changer standard
7. they pay your american express platinum fee for two years ($300/yr)
i think that is about it

The platinum I believe has the wood grain on the steering wheel and the regular wheel has all leather wrapping

I love the perforated leather on mine. Gives it a nice sporty touch

Also, no factory spoilers came on Platinum Edition GS's.

Default Factory Spoilers

The factory spoiler issue on the Platinum Series was a regional thing. Back when I got mine I wanted a factory spoiler and the GM at my wife's dealership told me that there won't be any with factory spoilers in the Northeast region. I remeber getting a response from somone in the mid west or central region and he had "my car" BLK/BLK, Nak, Factory spoiler, Plat Series. Worked out ok for me 'cause I like the RMM spoiler better.

Johnny Mo,

Do you have any pics of your ride that you would post for all of us to see?

So the Plantium Edition was only available in 2000? I saw someone selling a 1999 or 1998 GS4, saying it was a Plantium Edition... hmmm...

Default My 2K Plat GS4

I don't have any interior pics, hmm I'll have to do something about that. But here are the others. The last 2 pics are before the L-Tuned suspension mod.

Default Nice!

Very nice - the L-Tuned lowering really is noticeable and improved the overall look by a mile!

Default Thanks for the compliments

Thanks guy's! I was really happy with the L-Tuned look, but then I drove it and was sorry I didn't do it sooner. Probably the best mod you can do to the GS.

enginyr,

the tips are the Borla Stainless Steel Exhaust. Got'em from summitracing - best price around. They may have changed the style to be more like the L-tuned. A little disappointed in the hangers they use, the L-Tuned exhaust uses the factory hanger system which is nearly bulletproof. I guess that's the difference in an aftemarket product and an "in-house" aftermarket product. The sound is great though.

There were no spoilers on the western region version either here in California. I'm finally getting a TTE spoiler installed.

I was a little upset that the spoiler and 17" wheels upgrade options were not available then, and Lexus was only making the Platinum Edition during beginning of 2000. No reg versions were available.
