Default buying a gs400

hi. are there any areas of the car i should pay special attention to when buying a used gs400? i can get a 98 gs400 with about 15k miles for about 30-33grand. is that ok? its silver. it has 3 claims on it before but the dealer has no info cause the guy fixed it himself...probably minor? but there is one problem tho. when i step on the brakes moderatly, the parking brake light comes on on the dash. the one with the ! on it. what does that mean? low brake fluid? other than that the car is pretty much mint with all options except navigation. thanks for your time.

can you have the car checked out by a good tech guy? also look for the serial # stickers on all body panels, and check the trunk to see if there is any sign of wrinkling( a sign of been rear-ended) under the trunk mat.

thats very low miles average car is around 10-15k a year. that car that you are buying is going to be 4 years old. do the math. i'm guessing it has been in a car accident and has been sitting in the shop for couple months. usually if you don't have good insurance or no one wants to fix your car they could take up to a year to fix the car

I agree with gs4will and Jmai22...there is something wrong with this picture. I mean it is possible that the person didn't drive much but approx. 5000 miles a year is ridiculous. Heck I put in 5000 mile in a few months and I haven't even gone anywhere too far...mostly work and back.

Check the owners manual to find out who is the previous owner. Then write them a letter to find out what happened.

Also, is this dealer a Lexus dealer or a used car dealer? Is this going to be a CPO (certified) vehicle? From my understanding Lexus will not CPO a vehicle if it has ever been in an accident.

There is a lot of good deals out there...so don't be disappointed.

Hey, mine has 12K miles (4-yrs old Jan 29), and has nary a scratch. Nobody gave me the $35K I wanted, so I kept it, but after reading this, I bet people thought it was wrecked or something.
Keep in mind that the GS is a very nice car, and some people (like me) had it as a 3rd car.
Have a happy new year guys!

it is possible to find a good used car buy, you just need to do some research and have patience...and when you find a potential buy, do more check ups...

Did you ever get the car? What happened? I only put 3K miles every 6 months on my car and it is my daily driver. I drive about 20 miles every day round trip, 6 days a week. So it is very possible to get a car at that mileage and year.
