Default Iridium vs platinum. No Experts on this question?

Im not getting any hits, why? EVERYONE ISTALKIN about Iridiums but they are all mostly GS400 people. I have a 99 gs300 and even L-tune said that my suggested plugs are the denso platinum PK16TR11 plugs. So whats the deal? Do I have to use the platinums? Have anyone used the iridiums in the gs300 1999? Will they not run right or last as long? And to make everything more confusing there are denso iridium Ik16R11, Sk16R11, IK20s and SK20s. What the heck? I never thought getting spark plugs could be so dang complicated.

My father-in-law's 92 LS400 failed the emissions test last month. I put NGK Iridium plugs in, that's it, and it passed easily. Seems to run very well, too.

I think for a car that's mostly stock you can't do better than the OE plugs.

Toyota has done a great job spec'ing the OE plugs, coolant, and brake fluid in particular.

Toyota used multi-tipped platinum plugs before 00-01 or so. They switched over to iridium plugs after that all across the Toyota line(Camrys, Corollas, etc...). The plugs cost more but can technically last up to around 120k miles under normal driving conditions.

I change my plugs whenever I change my oil(every 5-7k miles on Amsoil Synthetic)
Then again, I'm running the NGK6097 copper plugs

as far as i know, iridium is made to last longer. same goes with platinum. if u want performance, u use copper plugs, they are far cheaper, and copper is a better conductor, HOWEVER, they last as long as an oil change. Many supra guys use the copper plugs.

For overall performance, reliability, and straight out no need to worry for a while, go with either platinum or iridium. you cant go wrong with either or. I personally have always stuck with NGK in all my previous and current vehicles, haha, and lawn mower =P.

ive also heard good things about denso, but have not tried them personally.
