Default Dying steering wheel

Is it possible to have the steering wheel professionally dyed...will this work??? What about if the steering wheel is a completely different color. I want to dye black to match my interior; black should pretty much cover all colors. What do you guys think?

Yes it is possible. Just make sure it is done all proper. I have seen a local shops dyed products and they look like they came in the color they were dyed, I am going to be getting my wood wheel dyed by them, because I cannot find a tan wood wheel with shiftmatic buttons for the damn life of me.

I'm in the same boat...every once in a while I will see a brand new steering wheel with e-shift and sometimes with wood (complete with air bag) for a good price...but never in black! Then when you do find a balck one it's like $900 and doesn't come with the air bag...go figure.

You have swapped in the '01-'05 steering wheels with the 98-00??? I thought that the airbag is incompatible with the first gen GS. post up a write up. thanks.

Of course it's not compatible with a first gen.

Joelseff...I think he wrote that his upgraded E-shift steering wheel came with the appropriate airbag. $450 for the whole setup! That's fantastic! The frickin' wood/leather shift **** from the dealer goes for around that price! I know there's one on Ebay now for $430 but does not come with the airbag...

mine, if i recall, was from a 00 model? i can't remember anymore... but it was the year that still had the stage 1 airbag, which was compatible with the early 2nd gen like mine.

no pics... just looks like a standard 2001 wood e-shift wheel.

but just as an fyi... you want a single stage airbag with a plug that looks like this:

i think the 2001 rx300 airbag is the same as the gs... but the steering wheel will not because there is no e-shift on the rx.
