6-speed gs400
Biggie27,
... GS400 with a Getrag-6? Sounds almost as aspiring as converting a US GS300 into a V300.
You would have to relocate the e-brake somewhere next to the driver's seat. Since the JZS-16# chasis never had a manual gearbox option you would have to map out a mechanical clutch diagram. A reliable used Getrag-6 should run you around $1200. The length of the 6-speed is longer, therefore, you would have to modify the driveshaft.
Now the fun part... the Nippon Denso ECU seems pretty formidable. It controls everything from air-fuel mixture, skid control, braking, throttle (damn!... no use for a vein pressure controller), theft-control, as well as your tranny. You can either disable the ECU operation commands to the tranny or somehow trick it using fuzzy logic. Either case good luck, because that 32-bit processor will just find that irregularity and kill the engine... or all the warning lights in the display will go off. If someone figures out a reliable program for the ECU then a world of possibility will allow us even more upgrades. Don't count on G-Force because UPRD is going through some corporate re-structuring, therefore, progress of the ECU will be hindered once again.
In Japan, a couple of V300s have underwent the transplant. This was made possible because the V300 and the Supra RZ(s) share the same engine and a few characteristics. However, after the transplant the V300 lost all it's orignal comfort and amenties that made it an Aristo. The car was basically an overgrown 4-door Supra RZ.
Anybody else have experience with this issue?

It'll be much easier to add 2 suicide doors to a Supra and make it a Turbo 4 Door GS than trying to make your car a N/A 4 door supra.
...philosophically speaking, the S300/US GS300 could be converted into a 5-speed manual (or even a six speed). The Supra SZ does come with a 5 speed manual option (ECU). Heck, early model US SC300s had manual tranny's. So if you don't mind compensating a few "amenties..."
I think lexus should have offerd a 6-speed on the gs400 I was considering a bmw 540 6-speed but it cost too much and I like the gs look better but only if it had a six speed then it would have been a serious competitor to the m5

But then again, Japanese philosophy is different from German engineering. We'll see. Maybe in the future, while German cars are still using 6 speeds, most Japanese cars will have sequential 6 speed manual gearboxes. Hahahaha that'll be cool.
