Well I will probably win the idiot of the weekend award. I was changing my wheels to put on the summers and the hydrolic jack was misplaced and I bent my oil pan up a bit. It went up maybe 1/2 inch on one side. I do not know anything about the internals of the pan. Am I screwed and need to have this cover replaced?
There are no leaks from the pan - I had my oil changed yesterday (did not check level then, asumed the correct amount of oil was put in. The dippy now tells me that the oil is above the top mark about 1/16.
I am ok to run? Is there some internals in there that I should be concerned with? Thanks for your help, I feel like an ***. I have pictures, hopefully I can post them, I think something is weird with the site right now. 2003 GS3 24k.
I wouldn't be so sure it's fine. where's the pics? the bottom end of your motor and the oil pressure are very important stuff. if the pan is bent enough it could maybe hit the crank. or you could've messed up the oil pump or passages etc.
I'm real **** about stuff like this, but you should pull the pan and at least check it. personally I would fix it before driving it.
Plenty of room for the crank to still slosh around in there. Only other concern would be the oil pickup. If it is bent or cracked then this could starve your motor and then there goes the bearings.
Post some pics to that everyone can have a better idea.
