Thumbs up let's play.. guess the CEL.

from my experience this week...

CEL goes on.. VSC and VSC/OFF is lit up

My car feels normal at non-idle rpm's.. at idle, it's a "little" rough. Sometimes the CEL blinks when it starts to feel a little "rougher" but never the car never died. The car only feels like this at idle, at a red light, or any time the rpm's kicks down low.

I go to autozone and pull these codes:

P1346 VVT Sensor Rang/Performance Problem (Bank 1)
P1349 VVT System Malfunction (Bank 1)
P0300 Random Misfire Detected

UPDATE:

This issue didn't turn out to be bad gas after all. After idling bad off and on all week I took it to my mechanic. He replaced:

CAM CONTROL SOLENOID
CAM CONTROL SENSOR

Take it for what it's worth.. but it idles great now and doesn't pull a CEL.

tried cleaning the throttle body (was a little dirty).. reset ecu.. but it lit up after a while and felt the same at idle.

I found out what it was today after a week.

Anyone want to guess what the problem was?

If you don't mind me asking, are these expensive items to replace? How did your mechanic know to replace them?

The part was about $100. Labor was $270 but they also took care of a rattling issue (the alignment shop left a socket in my suspension!) and replaced a broken coilpack bolt that broke off when I was replacing the sparkplugs. Since you are in Illinois.. if you ever need work on a Lexus.. he is great. He knew exactly what the problem was after giving him the symptoms. Previously he was a Master Tech at McGrath that started his own shop so he has pretty extensive knowledge on Lexus and makes me feel good that he owns 3 of them himself.

92 octane chev, i read the OP's comments, its a possibility, but ive filled at the same station several times before, so i dont think its bad gas.

im gonna take a look today at the cam position sensors. i heard that coudl be the issue as vvt constantly adjusts. probably check timing as well, im not due for a tbelt change for at least 20,000 miles, but who knows, maybe just bad luck.
