We have only had our Lexus for a week, but have a couple of questions regarding the GPS.

Went on a 140 mile trip (95% on same freeway) and at almost every off ramp, it would tell me to "turn here". I had programmed it to a specific address and it accepted it, etc. Why isn't it giving me the "direct route" because I have another 100 plus miles to go - straight ahead?

When I first started "programing" the GPS, I remember running into something regarding "avoiding freeway" or something like that. However, I cannot find where that was. Dumb!

Could someone be kind enough to take to me school on this so I can enjoy the GPS. I have to say, I am not overly impressed with it, but will give it a chance because I think "it is me".

most likely you've selected ON for AVOID FREEWAYS. When you select a destination, and right before the map starts to search, there should be a last OK menu, where it says AVOID FREEWAYS, AVOID TOLL ROADS, and SOMETHING ELSE. I forgot. There you can select what you want on and off.

 

GlobeCLK - Thanks Pal - That is what it was. I had programed in several destinations we were going and never put in something new when traveling, therefore not bringing up the screen you directed me to. I had changed it to avoid Freeways and don't know why in the hell I did that. Could it be I just turned 60 last week? LOL. Thanks again.

Best to set it to use Highways as often as possible. If it is set for shortest distance it will have you take the side streets instead of the highway.
