Default Alarm/Starting Problem

I hit the buttons to remote start and unlock my 2000 GS4 today and the alarm started going off. I tried the lock/unlock buttons on both of my keys, tried putting them in the door lock and nothing made it stop except putting the key in the ignition and turning it to on. However, the car won't start now - it doesn't even make any noise like it is trying to turn over.

The issue is complicated a little by having an aftermarket alarm/remote starter in addition to the stock one. I called the aftermarket company and they said it may be that the battery is low which is causing the electronics to act strangely. I got a new battery (the old one may have been the original battery so it was due anyway) but the same problem exists - horn beeping and car not starting. The alarm sound is not the same as my aftermarket alarm - so I'm thinking its the Lexus one but confused...

Any thoughts?

hey check your starter to see if it is working correctly. i dealt with an sc430 with remote start once and that is what happened. the starter failed after the owner put a new battery in it, don't really know why

If it was a failed starter would that cause the alarm to go off?

Anyone have any other ideas? Getting desperate - car is stuck in driveway blocking in another tenant. Gonna have to tow it if I can't solve it in the next couple hours...

Have you attempted to put the aftermarket alarm in valet mode?

Forget it - car towed to mechanic.

I'll post again when I decide to make my car look like some rice burner Honda Civic, that should generate more help.
