hey people,
another cl member is selling this ECU and its matching programmed master key from his 2002 IS300. i still haven't fixed my key problems and still only have a valet key which is stopping me from getting more keys as you need at least one master key.
will this ECU and master key from this IS300 plug and play for my 98 GS300?
in the picture is the ECU and master key. Is that what the ECU looks like?(the one that gets reflashed,i have never pulled mine and don't know what it looks like. looks big though)
will this work for me?
thanks for any input.

Im not sure the IS and GS computers are interchangable, but yes, that is the ECU that controls whether or not you can add more keys. With a master key that is included with the ECU, theoretically, you could add additional keys (just take the guts out of that key and put them into a new master without the buttons)... If someone can confirm that the ECUs are interchangable, then yes, this will work for you. You would need to buy two new master keys, one with the buttons, and one empty.. and you can take the guts out of that key from the ecu purchase and put it in your new empty master, and program the new key as well. Good luck

I think the 02-03+ GS300 has the same ecu as the IS300. 98-01 and some of early 02's have a different ecu harness connector/plug. Only problem is that the pinouts might be different while the harness can plug right in.

you cam;t just change the ignition. you need to get your ecu reflashed if you do not want to spend 1100 at lexus.
can someone please tell me if this ecu and master key will plug and play into my car.if seller was close by i would have tried it out but seller is far away.
gurus,

The 98-01 GS300 have a different ECU compared to the 02+ GS300. The connectors on that IS300 ECU won't even plug into your harness.

Here's what you need to do, and I speak from experience. Contact Lexus, 800-255-3987. Lexus will step up and assist you ONCE. They will buy the ECU and you must purchase one or two master keys and pay the labor. We were doing it for one key and one hour labor but I think Lexus is making it mandatory to purchase two keys to better prevent this from happening.

I hope this helps. It sure does beat this 1100 dollar crap.
