Default eBay strut bar, would you trust it?

I just saw this on eBay today, it’s a generic strut bar. Has anyone here purchased one like this before? Is it sturdy? Would you trust it?

strut bars should be one solid bar, no bolts connecting bar together.
if not solid, it will do its job. look at tom's, trd, aristo stock etc...

Well, the Tein one is 3 separate pieces. It's very well made & thick so it's also very strong.

A more accurate statement would be that no multi piece strut tower brace available for the GS is good.

However, the best strut bars for a car are multi piece units, 2 or 3 pc, not one piece units.

Very few multi piece units are available for Lexus cars.

For one, STB's do very little to NOTHING for a street GS. Period. Those that claim they feel a dramatic difference.........Nope. I know you WANT to feel a difference, but it is not there. That is after installing several on my GS as well as others. Never one difference and those that know me know how hard I am on my cars ,especially in the nice empty mountain roads.

Secondly, a multi piece unit allows the bar to be removed without altering the alignment of the car which a 1 piece unit will cause once removed as the strut can/will shift once the bar is unbolted. Remember, the STB is bolted directly to the top of the strut. Loosen the strut-the alighnment shifts. perhaps not dramatically-but a shift none the less.

Also, a good 3 piece unit will have a pretensioner built in. You cannot get a tensioner on a 1 piece unit. This preloads the chassis like it should.

Here are some pics of REAL STBs ,few of many available for Porsches.

3rd, for those that tinker with their car often like myself, a multi piece unit allows much easier access to the engine bay vs a 1 piece unit. Plus removing and installing those bolts on the struts wears them out eventually and removing the installing the bar over the bolts can/will damage the threads on the struts as well. Those with the TRD bar know this as the fit is not very good. Same for Toms. One can raise the car on jackstands for better fitment, but what a PITA.

Unfortunately, there is no multipiece STB with a tensioner available for a Lexus. In other words, there is no REAL STB available for a GS.

That said I have a multi piece unit on my SC and I find it to be the best STB I have installed on my 4 Lexus cars. It is well made, very stiff, looks good. Again though, no tensioner and no difference in handling whatsoever.

But...it could prevent excessive wear down the line for older cars as it boxes in the frame.

That STB on Ebay that the OP asked about. Not good. Lightweight and flexes. Not well made. Stay away.

The one I got ff Ebay for my SC which I really like.
