I see a bracket attached to the strut and a cable clipped into the bracket running from the inside of the rim up out of sight. Anyway, I saw NO sign of damage to the cable on either left or right sides of the car. I sure do hope this is the source of the problem though.

Would LOVE to see your pictures if you have a chance. I'm taking my car in on Tuesday.
I see that you are not going to listen to two guys that have experienced this problem on 4 previous occasions--our problem with this is solved.

Hey Mark, I am listening! I really appreciate your insight. Just trying to understand. Without pictures or more details it's hard. I was only saying what I saw when I looked under there, and also to ask if what I was seeing was what you're referring to (the bracket on the strut).

I've already told the dealer specifically what you guys have said. I just need as much specifics as possible. Let me ask this if I may - can you tell me the name of your dealer and/or service technician? Maybe I can just have my dealer call yours.

Thanks for your help and patience. Again, I absolutely believe what you are saying is true and I *am* listening.

Strange things are happening...
Really weird things started happening within th electronic instrumant panel of my 94 Aerostar, turned out that the left front turnsignal was shorting out. Who would guess.

But, VSC:

There is a YAW (lateral acceleration) sensor mounted on the floor of the vehicle just aft of center. If uncommanded YAW is detected(steering wheel is centered) by this sensor then the ABS will be used in an attempt to correct the lateral acceleration. If steering wheel is NOT centered and the YAW sensor does not detect the appropreate level of lateral acceleration then ABS will be used in an attempt to correct the situation.

VSC will only be activated within certain speed ranges and that's the only (direct) "speed" input to the system that I can determine.

The VSC circuit does also include a longitudnal deceleration sensor but I haven't been able to sort out just exactly how it is used from the write-up in the Lexus shop manual.

wwest - maybe the speed sensors are only for ABS then, but it seems odd that the ABS *and* VSC lights come on when the speed sensor goes out.

Mark, re-reading this post of yours, it sounds like you and pkeat had different problems. You're saying the sways or some other 'it' (I can't tell) needed to be reversed. He said the clip holding the cable needed to be relocated.

Anyway, if you don't have time for this, fine - I've got your dealer #, thanks.

VSC, Trac, ABS
Trac and VSC rely on the ABS, so if a portion of the ABS should fail, then these "ancillary" functions are automatically disabled.

mark, pkeat - thanks!
The dealer said they've seen where the cable is being hit when the sway bar 'bottoms out' and will be replacing one of the sensors (again) tomorrow and then rerouting the cables to both sensors. I gave the dealer printouts of this thread when I went in there!

Thanks again guys, and hopefully this will end this long saga of mine.
