i bought these today.. 191 w/ shipping.. so are these a simple install.. just hang or is there welding and cutting involved? anyone recommend an muffler shop in so cal, thanks.
Its not a bolt on. You do need a muffler shop to do the work. It has to be welded.
I could not find the part number #14829 in three inch! I want this exhaust for my first gen GS300 with a 1jzgte swap! would this exhaust still be a good choice for me?
I sure hope I didn't waste my money buying the ones I did and should have just bought the same ones you bought that had tips on already.......
Hey Hameed..If you are having the pipes mandrel bent, it will be impossible to have the #14829 muffler tips dead center because it will require a very sharp bend in the piping almost 90 degrees. This sort of bending is impossible with a mandrel bending machine (which my muffler guy has). If you have the piping crimped, then you can have the #14829 mufflers on center for sure. I don't know if you are **** about piping, but I wanted the least amount of bends for maximum flow , thus the off center install. My install does are uniform as my guy was using a tape measure to make sure both sides were similar. Here is a pic of my magnaflows installed at the shop
The model number that you and lexmenow ordered will be right on center with the least amount of bends since it is has the same offset as the stock mufflers.. Read this thread by Alex(Azdesert)

I purchased this one because it will work better with force induction.
Chuckb...The difference between the two is that 14829 has the piping center to center and the tip is already attached and the other one is off center to off center and the tip needs to be attached.

Just like you I am **** about smooth exhaust flow and would only do mandrel bends, so I am glad I got the right ones so that the tips will be centered!
Incidentally, I called up John (owner of HottExhaust) and he said the 14289 is more suited to a 100 Hp Civic as the canister is smaller than the one I got which is more suitable for a 300 HP car. Not sure if was just trying to convince me that I bought the right muffler or if in fact the 14289 is meant for a lower hp car.
His reasoning is that the muffler (the canister) is smaller than the one I got and is also restrictive compared to it. Go figure.
Mine are coming in today! I didn't know that this company (hottexhaust) is local to me here in Canada!

LOL... at John's sales pitch. The 14829 canister is the same size. It is not small by any means..Heck it sure sounds throaty for a Civic exhaust lol.. The 14829 and any other model magnaflow muffler is considerably lighter than stock.
You guys got me all messed up Will some one tell me wich exhaust to get for my first gen turbo!
turbo application i would go 3" piping.
I'm not familiar with the 1st gen if its off center-off center, but there isn't 3" muffler thats stainless steel if it is. The 3" one I went with is center to center. That's 14835.

I'm in NYC so I can't help you with that, but its not alot of work depending if your redoing all your piping from the headers back or your just cutting the existing piping and having them weld it to that.
I had mine done like the OEM. It had the flange put on it so it could be bolted on and removed just like OEM.
