Default Quick Lexus Manual Question

I was looking at the lexus repair manuals for the GS300/430 that lexus-parts.com sell.
Is there a significant difference between volume 1 and volume 2?

Should I buy both of them?

-thanks

I think one is for mechnical, and one for electrical components.

Hmmm. The descriptions on their website are exactly the same for both products. If that is true then it may be worth it to buy both.

There are 2 volumes and 1 electrical. So technically there are 3. One of the volumes focuses on diagnostics for the most part, while the other one has write-ups. You NEED both.

I have Vol.2 and the Electrical Wiring Diagram. I have not seen the Vol 1. but the index in Vol.2 shows that Vol 1. has " Introduction, Maintenance, Preparation, Service specifications and Diagnostics"

If I were to get one for starters I would get Vol 2. first. It seems to have the main systems w/ diagrams and specs.-Body engine Interior, exhaust, cooling, suspension.

Volume 2 covers most of the engine/transmission/cooling/brakes/suspension and body. If you plan to DIY or need a detailed reference buy the volume2.

Volume 1 covers the diagnostic part and needs to read codes and diagnose the problem. Special equipment is needed.

It is good to have them both, but if you can only purchase one then get the volume2.

As pointed out there is a seperate book (suppliment?) that covers the electrical.

Good Luck

note: The above is true for 98 service manuals. The others should be the same.
