If you accidentally broke your old one or something or if it just died (rare but it happens). I believe all modern Toyotas store the mileage only on the gauge cluster. At least thats how my 99 camry was. I broke a needle when changing the lights in the gauges. I bought a used one off ebay with similar miles and it worked. It had like 2000 more miles though which was the downside I could of paid a service center to reprogram the miles for about $150 but it wasn't worth it since I only paid $50 for the gauges.

As for you finding a GS gauge cluster with similar miles to yours....that's going to be pretty hard. It was hard for me to find one for the camry and there are 100x or more of those around. Because it's more rare you're probably going to have to have it programmed to the correct mileage (about $150 service).

it seemed as if the cluster was not as bright as it used to be, specially the center one, so i took it out to c if i can replace the bulbs and im not sure what i did, but its not exactly working anymore..., and i think if i get a new cluster w/o changing the miles then my title for the car would be TMU (true miles unknown) and i'd rather have the actual miles. any help on how to change the miles, if they are stored in the cluster and i can switch out the mother boards or something let me know. thanx
