Some European car makers take their shots at imitating the GS:

In all fairness the E class came out with the quads and hood lines well before the debut of the GS second generation. But you're absolutely right on the others.

Fever, you are right about the quads but they look way better on the GS in my opinion.

Thanks for the laugh Globe!!!

yeah the E came out first. However it's more towards the classy side as opposed to GS's sporty yet classy side

i think i once read on this forum that the GS design was first rejected by jaguar and then lexus took it for the GS. i might be wrong, but i'm sure i heard that somewhere, i think it was here.

oh and by the way, lexus did use the quad headlights on the SC way before mercedes did on the E class. but jaguar has been using the desigh before both lexus and mercedes.

Oh yes, many more cars have done quads in the past. I was just thinking of a four door *sport* sedan in recent memory.

The previous gen Celica had the quad lights, so the GS could just be improving on that, who knows. At least that means quad's have been in Toyota's heritage before the E-class came out though

Ital Design's Giugiaro originally took the JZS-14x Aristo design to Jaguar. Jaguar didn't buy it. Toyota did.

The current GS (JZS-16x) was designed in-house by Akihiro Nagaya which expanded on the original design.

The dual headlights can be attributed to many cars...remeber, the SC's also had "quad" lights and the SC came out WAY before the Mercedes E-Class (W210)...but did Mr. Nagaya "rip off" the E-Class lights? Only Mr. Nagaya would know...

everyone is influenced by what they see.

so im sure mr. Nagaya took some influance from the E-Class, and some from the Celica, and some from the SC, and some fom the JZS-141

who cares it doesn't look like anyother car on the road and its a beautiful beautiful car!!

now lets talk about the quad REAR lights

i can't remember any car that has those!
