Default 00 GS 300 ignitor issue-possibly

Hi everyone this is my first post and I am looking for some possible guidence/ suggestions! (I apologize if this is in the wrong place).

So here's the deal:
Wed. night I turned off my car to open the garage door and when I got back in the car didn't start. I turned the key again, and it started.

Thurs. morning I wake up to go warm up the car and it would not start at all. Honestly, I wasn't too worried, I just figured I needed a new battery. I took my girlfriends Maxima and went to work.

Thurs. afternoon, I jump started my gs 300 with her Maxima, and it worked. I immediatly drove to the store to buy a new battery.

I get to the store, turn off the car, and waited for the battery installation, when it was my turn, it would not start. The engine cranks, lights come on, but it WILL NOT start.

I searched on this VERY helpful forum for starter info and from what I read it doesn't seem like it is the starter. I do not hear the tell-tale "clicking" sound. I also do not think it is the fuel-pump... I read something in here about the ignitor. I did a search on google on what this is but I still do not understand what the heck an ignitor is. Are they coils? Are they wires? Is it a part?

It would be great if someone could maybe explain what the ignitor works...Thanks a lot!

are you sure there is no click at all when you try to start?

nevermind-I see you said the motor cranks but won't start. maybe the transponder in key?
any check engine lights? go to autozone and have them check(it's free) for diagnostic trouble codes.

Default Fixed 1st issue but now I have a new problem!

Hi,
Thanks for responding. Okay, I *think* it was the transponder. I just bought the car like 2 mo ago, and like many used cars it only came with one key and that was busted. So my girlfriend went on ebay and bought one of those shells. On monday, I switched the alarm module and but did not get the key cut. So essentially what I was doing was using the new shell as an alarm and the old key to actually operate the car. Apparently this was a bad idea, last night when I was searching around this forum I noticed someone said they were having a similar problem w/ their valet key. So I switched the key back to its original state, and sure enough it started working! I was real happy cause an igniter is 350-450. Thanks for the info!!!

BUT

There is a new problem, now my ABS/ VBS (I think thats what it says) will NOT go off and the car gets stuck in park...ANY ideas??

pull the fuse under hood that says ecu-b for about 45 minutes, it will reset ecu and it should be ok. if lights come back on, then do like I said above and try autozone.
