Hi Guys,
Back in the early days there were big discusions about the benefits of E-Shifting.I think it was brought up that the car would shift automatically if you red-lined it.I find this to be not so,I have a 98 gs4 and i now use E-Shift a lot,I red lined it a few times in 2nd and the car boggs down,(68 mph, did not shift). Could it be that this is one of the early generation,I think it was built in july of 98.Does anyone have a different experience, also does power mode also adjust AIR/FUEL mixture and not just shift points when driving in Auto mode.
Thanks, clive.

I also redline my car on second gear, I think all GS400 (not 430's) can redline on second by using the E-shift, My GS400 is a first Gen. '99 ( no DRL's on it )

Same here w/ an 01 gs 300, it redlines and whines like hell.

The e shift is far from prompt in it's response if pushed hard!!

Here is what I have found out:

If you are in D, and you switch it over to ES, then downshift to 2 while at a stop, then under full acceleration, it will shift automatically to 3.

Once this first cycle is completed, or if you shift to 3 before the tranny does, the saftey feature of autoshifitng is no longer available. You'll have to put it back into D, then switch back over again to ES.....

Again, this is from my eperience only.
