Sorry guys...I should have been more clear. My info. was based on the GS430. The GS300 will get the cosmetic updates but the HP ratings are for the GS4XX series.

One more thing...his thoughts are that a maxed out M fighter GS from Lexus would be in the $60K+ range. Standard GS4XX would be low $50's.

Again this is end of 2003 as a 2004 model.

I say this because of the divided opinion over the current ES (at least the exterior) and how they removed the extra set of headlights on the SC430. I'm not completely overwhelmed with the IS300, and to be honest I think the GS doesn't need alot of improvement aesthetically, although the 5 brakelights are a bit much. I assume they'll add more toys inside, hopefully the fantastic illuminescent dash concept stays (why the SC didn't borrow this is beyond me, they have the 3 oval cutouts, why not go all the way ?? I found the change between the 1st gen. GS and the 2nd to be drastic in a good way (although both are nice in their own right), but I hope the 3rd gen isn't so drastic to be a mistake either. Add to the fact that there are never any spyshots of Lexus, and the anticipation kills me all the more !!!
I agree LexusPride. When I first saw the 1st generation GS, I feel in love with it at first sight. It was just a very elegant design to me, so I was worried about the new design and couldn't think they could top it, but of course they did. But now, with the recent new models, I'm a little worried about what the GS is going to look like. I would suspect that the quad lighting will be gone, probably because they don't want people thinking they are copying MB, even though I think they do the quad lightening in the most attractive way. I’m also afraid that they will make it look like all the other models, like how the SC takes design cues from the SC and a little bit of the GS. I assume they are doing this because it seems like a lot of reviewers complain that there is no “set” Lexus trademark, like the MB or Acura’s similar use of grills. But for me, why make all models look the same….like I would never buy a 3 series BMW and also a 5 series, because they look to similar. But would own two Lexuses…..oh well I guess we will just have wait and see about the new GS.

I too am a little bit worried about the exterior styling. No doubt that the new interior styling of the GS will be much improved, based on the ES and LS improvements. But in both cases, the exterior is out of whack in general, and is certainly not very inspired. I hope that Lexus realizes the love affair that we (people that buy cars like the GS and 5 Series) have with our cars, and that we don't want a generic looking car. Look on this board and other boards like roadfly.com for BMW, and you will see that most of the activity on those boards is for the GS and 5.

Concerning the new gen GS being an M5 killer. Well, Lexus will certainly have to pull out all of the stops, since the next gen M5 is rumored to be with a V-10 and 500 HP.

Concerning car changing/manufacturing times. I have a friend of a friend that works at MB, and even simple changes in a cars design can cause major problems, and require a lot of time. For a late 2003 release as a 2004 model, the car more or less has to be done by early 2003 so that the factory can be retooled and the finalizations of the other aspects of car marketing and delivery can take place.

Hey guys,

My dad said that his bro told him he had seen the new GS...I don't know if he saw it at an auto show or on the road...

...could that be possible?

I told him that there is no way he could have seen it must be something else.....he said the rear lights were long/slim/wide, I guess kinda like the 97 camry, or atleast something like it...

I am gonna call my uncle soon and ask him more about it

No, he didn't describe it as a 97 camry, he just said it was the new Lexus GS and he said that it had slim rear lights...

....so in trying to explain this to you guys, I said slim rear lights like on the 97 camry...

it may have been a souped up 02 ES300 or something with GS badges, I don't know....I am gonna ask him tomorrow
