Default Does the 98 GS4 have LSD???

The reason why I ask is....
Tonight I was feeling pissed cause I was just given a ticket on my own street and the cop said to me..."I am just going to check your license, OK" Then came back with ticket in hand. So after trying to go 25mph till the end of the next street before getting on the highway, I said "this will be a good time to try that brake stand I been putting off". Man, didn't take much to get them spinning. After 5 seconds or so, let the foot off and spun onto the highway for the u-turn I need to take. Well on the way back from the gym, I of course had to see how I did....to my surprise there was 2, yes 2 strips. The one on the right was defined more but each was at least 15 feet with the right side being 20 feet or so. Oh did I mention I just installed the new leatherseats.com leather and didn't factor the friggin smoke enter the cabin of my pristine new suede/leather interior, dummy. Anyway, am I missing something??? I check the window sticker given to me from the previous owner and as I expected it was not there. I was in the car biz for ten years but that was 10 years ago since I left. Any thoughts????

No it does not (not even a factory option). Sometimes if road conditions are right, both wheels will still hook up though

Thanks gents. That being said...since no plans to go FI, LSD will not be an upgrade I will do. Valve body Mod....YES! Way too slow and sloppy on the shifts.

But Dave the ex-NFL quarterback (Lexus salesperson) that sold a brand new 1998 GS400 to my Dad 9 years ago told me it did!

But he was wrong.

I wonder if thicker diff oil would make it have more posi? that's what we do in rc cars. I've rebuilt about 20 of those diffs.

LOL- Is this how you get to post 25+ per day. Not making fun, it is funny you are wondering what is in my head. If I was making 400 HP I would definitely want to add an LSD. As for the VBM, this upgrade is much more justified to me. It adds a level of longevity to the clutches (yes one should also add a tranny cooler and I will) and is far more enjoyable to run this great V8 through a few gears. The stock valve bodies take way too long to actuate the shift, especially from 5th to say 2nd. I can almost count to 2 (lol) before it connects second from a full throttle stab at 50mph. The 3.76 are more money and adds weight, brings down mpg a little and sets the rpm a little higher too, which for me matters since I spend 40 mins a day each way on the highway. Our cars are super quiet though even on heavy throttle. If only the stearing and suspension in these Gen2 GS wasn't such a mystery.

I think this should be the topic of a whole new thread -- Who sold IAGS400's dad his car in 1998? (HINT -- his first name is Dave and he was an ex-NFL quarterback at the time).

I'll start. You're from Iowa, which is close to KC, and if my memory serves me correctly, Dave Krieg played for the Chiefs at some point in his career. Ding, ding, ding?

To stay on subject:
What makes the Supra TT 3.76 LSD heavier than my OEM open diff 3.26?

I don't see why you guys put in a 3.77 diff. I guess you could accelerate a little faster, but I would def prefer the lower gearing.

Also, do you guys even run a yellow box to correct for the gear changes? Your speedo would be reading 60 and you'd prob be going like 51.
