I have a 98 GS400. The other day, I started it, and pressed auto on the HVAC system to activate it. It didn't come on at first, but after another press or two the display with the driver and passenger temperatures came on (The fan did not activate yet, since the car was cold, and it was set to the max temp. As you probably know it waits for the car to warm up so its not blowing cold air on you). Also, the outside temperature display had said
"--" , which I have never seen before. I thought it was a problem with the thermometer, but after driving around for a bit and the fan still not coming on, I tried to crank up the fan speed manually, even tried dropping the temperature to the minimum and turning on the defogger, but the fan would not come on. The next time I turned on the car, the HVAC system and outside temperature display were working fine. Has anyone had this happen before?
