Feedback on recent purchase
thanks guys, I was really estatic at first that I bargained the dealer all the way down to 17k from their asking price of 21k but I guess it all evens out in the end. The main thing that I am consoled by is if anything unexpected were going to occur financially in the future (since I have a auto loan on it right now) I can turn around and sell the car for pretty much the 18k outstand amount on my loan.
I believe according to kkb (which is about 1-2k higher than edmund's tmv) the retail for the car is 25k, private 19-21k, and trade-in 16-17k.
After I get done invest ing $500 new tires, $1500 service (including replacing the actuators), the car should be in very good shape then.
The main thing that was important to me was that I was not upside down on my loan since I still haven't sold my old 97 F150 yet and i took out a 0down capital one loan.

Before you spend or waste all that money getting the doorlock actuators fixed try calling Lexus Corporate and telling them about your actuator problem which is very common with the GS and very expensive to fix. I think the number is 1-800-25-LEXUS I have the same problem with my Black GS430 on the passenger side and unfortunately I did not notice it before buying it. I called Lexus Corporate and told them since my car was only 2 months past warranty I felt I should not have to pay $500 to get this common known problem fixed. They did not end up paying for anything and were not helpful at all and even said they were not aware of that problem which is complete BS, they even said they were not aware of the moisture in the headlight problem either. If enough people complain they may eventaully do the right thing and do out of warranty fixes on this design defect. Even if you already had it fixed I would still let them know because it is very dissapointing coming from a company like Lexus that this problem has been ignored.
Also look around and see if there is a way of using aftermarket dooralarm actuators which may be much cheaper, good luck.
Rock chips suck especially on a black car and I have plenty of them in the front of my back GS. I also have some kind of discoleration in two small spots which looks like tree sap ate through some paint. It still feels smooth and it is a little too big to hit with touch up. My dads black Acura CL has the same paint discoleration but smaller so I think it is pretty common with black cars in Alabama.
Good luck and you still got a good deal even though you will need to spend some more to get it into perfect condition. Keep us informed with the air filter, intake, exhaust.
