Default low gas warning light

since i got my gs the low gas warning light has never come on.
i have even let the tank go so low below the E line to see if the warning light will come on but it does not.
i opened the guage cluster thinking the bulb was burnt out and swapped it with the high beam one next to it. the bulb works fine.
any body have any idea what could be wrong? i never use up my gas to the end but sure would like to have that warning light working for important times or if anyone else is driving my car.
does it have a fuse of its own or something?
any input is appreciated guys.

Don't have a fix for you, but my light comes on around 1/8 of tank. Not sure if it's the float in the tank or the gauge itself that would trip that warning light.

maybe the sensor inside the gas tank is toasted?

Default sensor

just called my lexus dealer and they said there are two sensors in the tank that work together -$104(canadian) each. i might just forget about it cos i never even let my tank lower than quarter tank. but it just bugs me

my light comes on when the needle is about 1/8 of an inch above the bottom line.

Default yep

did it yesterday to find out if it would light up after the bulb swap.
it was visibl- well past the E line. about this kind of gap --. i think after it passes the E line u still have some gas that can last for about 20 - 30km. the light just comes on regularly in normal working guages when gas is about1/8 as a precaution.
all in all its not good to let ur gas go below the quarter mark cos depending on where u are driving ur fuel pump could be sucking up air in bumpy roads and ur engine could die.
