it's an air intake box to block out hot engine heat from coming in.
cooler air = more power=)

Looks very factory, nice! What did you make it out of (obviously metal, but what kind?), and how did you bend it?

holy cow that looks cool!!

can you do a write up on how you did it? materials used, methods of measurement, etc...

how do you remove it to clean/swap the filter?

how are you piping cooler air into that area?

have you noticed less heat soak?

is there a lining on the interior to further insulate the heat?

sorry for so many questions but c'mon- you knew they were coming.

actually, it's made out of a dense foam material, i forgot the name of it but it feels like plastic. i was going to use abs plastic but it cost more and i figure it might be harder to form and mold it.

It's not quite complete the way i wanted it to be. there's a slight gap at the very bottom that i need to find a way to seal up.

This is basically more of cover (for now) than a box. i Guesstimate the top dimension and the depth and cut out a oval 3.75" x 4" hole to fit the piping.
Test fitted the cover and sand down what i need to make a better fit.

the hardest part of the installation was putting the intake filter on. it's kinda tricky but i had to force one of my hands inside while i got a long screwdrive to tighten it up.

i don't have the technical spec on performance side of it as i just wanted to block the hot air coming in from the fan belt etc, etc.

That looks very good GSing430 Thats what I'm talking about.. It should do wonders for your cars performance with that Injen intake you have installed. SRT should have designed something like this out of the box. Colder air=

Looks great!!!! I'm curious where the air is now coming from if not from the top? Do you think you have created any air flow restriction problems?
