Default Car security

I've been wanting to get an alarm and remote starter for my car. I've been looking into the Viper 791xv but one place is charging me $620 installed. What other systems are there available that are comparable to this system? Also, I found the Viper 791xv system for $200 or less on some websites, does anyone know where I could get it installed for around $150-200 in the North Jersey or even tri-state area?

I just got mine installed last weekend, its a xv791 with remote start. I paid $190 for the alarm, and a shop called Daddyo's(authorized Viper dealer) installed it for me for $150 including remote start and all. The only thing i had to get that was extra was the viper 555x Toyota/Lexus immobilizer, that was about $42 shipped from www.sonicelectronix.com so the grand total with remote start= $382 installed I would suggest that you go to the DEI website and look for an authorized dealer in your area, you get to keep your warranty if you go through the dealer, call them up and see how much it would cost.

I paid around $150 for the one I had on my ES on Ebay but was charged $300 for the install. I would suggest buying the alarm from the company installing so it has a warranty.

Thanx for the feedback guys. I found a couple of places that will do the install cheaper through the DEI website. I'm gonna check them out then give you guys an update.

Well I'm getting the Viper 791xv installed tomorrow. It's going to run me $550 + tax to get it installed. I know it's kind of expensive but I'm tired of shopping around and I need to get it installed ASAP because I'm parking my car on the street now.

I'm so excited about this security system installed. I was reading reviews and the user's manual online. It's so complex. How long did it take you guys to learn how to use this security system? How good are the features of the basic system? Is there anything that I should add or have changed from default?

I had my Viper (I can't remember which model but it was the top of the line one) for my previous car for security reasons since I have chrome rims but mainly for the Remote-Start. I had the alarm removed from the car since I was in an accident with a deer and I'm planning to install it on my GS in the coming months. Someone advised me to make sure that the person(s) doing the install has experience with Lexus cars. I got a confirmation from the shop and will be there just before this winter for the install.

Well I finally got the Viper 791xv installed on my car today. I must say I wasn't that impressed with the alarm. I thought I was going to be able to do more things with the basic setup. But it does what it needs to do which is alert me of any intruders or disturbances at my car and remote start my car and that's the main reason I bought. But I think sometime down the road I am going to have to add some more features for me to play with.
