Talking LTuned Installed - Wow

Susp and Steering ECU

I absolutely love it. I had perma-grin for at least an hour afterwards.

Any lower and it would look slammed, and higher, and there wouldn't be any difference. The ride is great. I still plan on getting front and rear sways and a STB.

The steering ECU make it stiffer than my previous BMW 3; very nice.

Here's one pic right after install - I will post the 'L' installed grill pics tomorrow - didn't get a chance to do it today.

Better pics to follow in the days to come!

Very good, Luke. With sways and bars the (g) force will be with you.

Thumbs up My Fisrt Full Day With It

Kick ***.

I drove ~3hrs, all intestate avg 80-90mph, and the ride was excellent. Very smooth, taught and firm, but not harsh, no more floatiness, confidence inspiring, and I'd go as far as to say quieter. I actually turned off the radio for about 30 mintues, and it seemed quieter. I dunno, maybe just a psych thing.....

Dealers I think should really offer it as an OEM upgrade before delivery. Its a performance sedan - it is supposed to ride like this!

Later

P.S. - I did have the dealer use the OEM bumpstops; thanks again for that tip.

Hey Dex,

Can you measure from the ground up to the lip of the fender (Front and Back) so I can compare it to our stock GS.. BTW your car is looking really really sweet.. Keep up the great work.. The platinium badges look great too.. Any plans for a body kit or rims??

Sure - I'll do it tomorrow; I'm parked on an incline right now...

Thanks for the compliments. I've thought about rims; I really like the ones pictures here...

But everytime I wash my car, and see mine all cleaned up, they really make me consider putting that $ (2-3k) towards the stereo, or some other component I will find to upgrade I really like the OEM 17s.

I like it and it looks great.

Where in NJ can I get this done? My dealer can't even do this, this stinks.

I need this LTuned Upgrade!

Drove my parents 2001 530i and the steering and the cornering or so tight, that I only wish my GS4 could be like that.

Where in NJ people? ;-)

Dexter,
Just wanted to compliment you on the Platinum Edition badges. They look awesome with the Spectra Blue Mica! BTW, I'm glad that you are pleased with the way your body work turned out.

Ok Dex,

I measured our stock GS so I can compare yours with the drop.. Measuring from the floor to the fender lining in the centre of the wheel in the front I get 27 1/8" and the rear I get 26 7/8" with 1/4 tank of fuel in the car..

Really curious to see how much the L-tuned package dropped your car because IMO it looks just right especially with the little woman driving the car..

Ken

2Savvy,

Keep in mind these measurements are on a kits only 2 days old, and the street where I am staying also isn't perfectly level, north & south / east & west, at least not enough for me to say that these numbers are absolutely perfect. From what I understand, it should settle maybe a fraction more too, but HTH.

3/4 tank of gas - empty trunk
Front ~ 26.25
Rear ~ 27

Again, these are preliminary numbers.

I'll take some more in another location and get them up here ASAP.

Bomp, bomp, oooohhh yeaahhhh.......

Thanks Dex..

I never realized how high the front looked till I measured it earlier.. You can hide a cat in there.. Sheesh.. LOL
You used the original bump stops correct and not the ones that came in the L-Tuned suspension package.. Have you heard any weird noises from the suspension??

Just curious since alot have said the bump stops that come with the package create some sort of noise..

Thanks again for posting the height.. I think I will end up going L-tuned for the suspension on the GS.. Can't go too low because we still have to drive this car in the winter..

Yep, I used the OEM, existing, bump stops.

I was specific to teh rep, had him put it on the work order, and he circled it for me afterwards. On the invoice, the tech replied USED OEM BUMPSTOPS AS REQUESTED

Absolutely not one single creak, pop, squish, anything from the Susp so far, and I've driven up steep driveways, traversed steep curbs slowly, and those giant road humps at some speed...all is good.

I don't think I could be much happier with it.

Guys, the L-Tuned suspension drop is about an inch front and back. I believe it's actually a fraction more in the front than in the rear. Gives the car a nice rake front to back.

I had mine done about a month ago and I love it.

I love the look and the way it handles. Not too stiff, but it definately eliminates the highway float and takes out a lot of the roll in moderate speed turns.

I didn't think I'd really like the lowered look, but I loved it from the minute I picked up the car at the dealer.

I also think they should offer the L-Tuned suspension as a sports suspension option from the factory and I think the steering ecu should be standard on all GS430s. There's just too much play in the standard steering, especially at highway speeds.

BTW, lexguynj, if you can make it up to NYC (I know that's a challange these days) Johnny Mo is hooked up with Lexus of Manhattan and I know they can do the L-Tuned work for you.

One small problem with my suspension is that I got a bad shock that's going to be replaced. It's been making noise as it experiences load/off-load transitions. Lexus replaced it and it will be installed by the dealer on Thursday.
