Just wondering, V1 seems like the choice to get, but there are quite a few for sale around, ebay..etc, I tried out their serial#, and they all need the 'instant upgrade' from valentine,

Is there something I'm missing, why would people sell them, for better models??

btw, some reference i found, not sure how concrete these reviews are, FYI only,

The V1 is the best performing detector on the planet.
Check out the latest Car and Driver reviews, they know what they are doing (Standardized, Scientific, Proper Testing) which rated the V1 tops, again.

I've had em all,
Bel (Threw it out the window after I could not take the damn video game sound effects anymore, it was a 12 hour trip)
Piece of Crap

Uniden, good detector, just wore out in a year 1/2.
Not as good as the Passport

Passport, the original Mike Valentine design, it died after 1 drop too many. Replaced my old Escort some punk stole out of the car.

None work as well as the V1, it's the Lexus of Radar Detectors.
This is not a place where you wanna go cheap, one good ticket (you KNOW what I'm talking about . . . ) and the combined insurance increase/Tix and Legal Fees easily cost more than the V1.
