Just had my actuators finally changed in my rear doors and front drivers door. After I had my sound system installed all 3 of them failed withing 3 weeks. The rear actuators feld tight when you push the lock manualy on back doors, I was advised that since the actuator burned out, it is tight now. But then logicaly thinking that it happened after they installed speakers and maybe the lock mechanism cable got pulled and became tight, so the actuator had to work harder and finally failed since it was not new, the car has almost 100k miles. Now my front door are very smooth when you manualy lock the car by pressing on the lock itself but rear doors are tighter and feels like the actuator has to work harder to close it. Does anyone else have that? I tried GS430 with 25k miles and the door locks in rear doors are as smooth as the front when you push on the lock to close. I am worried that if there has to be a cable adjustment done, I would want to do it right away and not to go through another actuator or maybe something has to be oiled up.. Anyone has any input on this. I mean all three failed right after sound system installed, maybe when they did the speakers in the door they had the door panel just rest on the door lock cable and now cable needs to be re adjusted?! Please help, actuators are not cheap!!
Same thing happened to me when I put in my door speakers.Simply re-align the lock tensioner cable onto the actual lock arm thingie. Just pull off the door panel and adjust the slack with the black snapping piece.
I do recall when I tried to fix this the problem was a bent lock cable. I think this happens when someone tries to lock the door as you are unlocking it or vice versa. Try the cable fix and see if it helps.
