On two ocassions this crap happened to me and i freakin hate it. When i first got my GS 300 second GEN. I was proudly driving through my community when i spotted one of my neighbors. He didn't recognize the car until i told him that i just purchased it like two days ago. He had the nerve to ask me if it was a HYUNDAI, i was so offended but he wouldn't realize why i was so mad, cuz i jus spent a crap load of money buying a Lexus and he's calling it a damn sonata. The second time was today when i stopped off for lunch at a local fast food joint, just coming from the car wash, and I'm sure you all know how the GS glimmers in the sunlight, when this guy approaches me in the restaurant and asked me if i drove the HYUNDAI. I was like what? What HYUNDAI, and he was like that nice black one out there and pointed to my car. I responded with a rude tone, THATS A LEXUS not a HYUNDAI, and he replied by saying i didn't know a Lexus could look so nice. I was this close to puching this guy in his throat but i was too busy worrying about the initial HYUNDAI comment. What the hell is up with this? ANYBODY else ever had this problem?

 

Just let it go.....

Obviously those people don't know much about cars, and if they think it's a Hyundai, that just means that they thought about owning a Lexus or even know of someone owning one. Be proud of what you have and don't worry too much of what other people say, that's just unecessary stress.

You shouldn't be mad at those people. Not everyone is into cars so don't expect people them to know all the cars they see.

Kind of like if you asked a professional photography if his camera is a Koda EasyShare (). To us, it's a harmless question, but to the photographer, it's an insult.

oh wow.. i never had this happen before.. i get the opposite, everyone tells me how they hate the new hyundai's and other cars that took on the similar GS headlight design lol they're like "THEY WISH THEY COULD BE LIKE LEXUS" lol

 

Definitely because of the bubble headlights. He must have been shopping for one.

 

lol.... wtf.... we dont get that around here.... but i'm curious to know what sort of hyundai would look like the GS. if it is the Sonata i think the Sonata is a pretty sharp looking vehicle for what it is..... at the end of the day, who cares....

Most people don't know much about anything. Getting exasperated is hardly worth the energy.

If what other people do or think or say affects you that much, I'd say you bought the car for the wrong reasons.

I bought mine because it's awesome. Other people can kiss my ***.

This is bad, but maybe not as bad as when I owned my NSX. So often people told me NICE VETTE!

 

Do ya'll remember a couple years back when the Daewoo had an advertisement with the Leganza and GS side-by-side, comparing the similarities?

 

Yeah i was looking at the GS and wondering what similarities does it share with a HYUNDAI and it is definately the headlights. I'm over it now and i still love my GS.
