Default strange radio issue

I have a 2001 gs430 with the standard "premium" lexus radio and lately I've had a strange radio problem. Certain stations will cut off for about 1 second in about 2-3 second intervals. They are regular stations that come in fine and but every few seconds it cuts to complete silence then back to normal. It is only certain stations and others come in fine without this happening. Seems really weird that it would only be certain ones and not all or nothing, anyone got any ideas on whats going on? Also, I've noticed that the front passenger speaker cuts off sometimes especially at low volume, would that be do to a loose connection or something?

Hey if you're thinking about replacing that radio place let me know . I'm in need of the LCD from the stock radio. Let me know, I'm located in Dallas.

Default Rds??

Hi Adam,
I also have an 01 GS-430 which has the Mark Levinson option, I have this issue also but only on FM1 and FM2. If I am on FM Type I do not have the problem on the same station, my theory is that it is related to RDS (Radio Data System). I actually asked my local dealership about this and they told me that they could not duplicate the problem but I can reproduce it at will.

Anyone else?

I just had that exact same problem with one (not all) of my radio stations cutting out about every 3 seconds or so. At 1st, I thought is was the radio station itself having problems but after hearing the same station on my wife's es with no sound problem, it dawned on me that is was my radio. Basically, all you have to do is go to another station and manually tune back to the station giving you problems and re-set the station. Worked for me...hope it works for you.

Yup, I had the same issue. Just reprogram that particular preset to a different station, then change it back and it will be cured. Odd for sure, but curable.

As I recall, there was button to push on my navi screen for my ML radio in the radio control screen ... toggle it either on or off, whatever is the opposite of the current setting. Not sure if this helps you, but it's worth mentioning I suppose. Good luck!

i had this exact same problem, until 2 mins ago when i went out and did what Chpsk8 said, and now it works fine thanks bro! i thought it was the radio station too at first, because it was the only one that would turn 'off' every 4-5 seconds, and I checked it on the seqioua today and it worked fine. so i got onto CL, and there was a recent post about this...haha
