I know that my car definitely does not do this, so it must be a c-best setting, but I never knew that this was even an option. Have you ever accidentally locked your key in the car because of this (assuming the key was laying on the seat or something)?

No, but it could happen. That's probably why it's not a default factory setting. I guess it's no different than the valet parking feature of aftermarket systems.
to add to this thread.. Mine has 90k miles 01 gs430.. after my sound system was installed 3 of my door actuators broke within 2 weeks?! anyone has a thought why? is there something that could be adjusted? otherwise I just got served $1k repair bill if to fix it.
