Another Tint ? Silver GS owners represent.
Hey all,
On Monday I'm getting tint on my Alpine silver GS400. I've done my research on tint by doing endless searchs on metallic tint interference, tint laws, UV protection and tint quality and now it has come down to deciding on tint %. I believe tint is a very personal choice and for me I want to keep the classic look to my GS without going too dark. Im on the fence between going with 50% or 35% all the way around.
I would really appreciate it if you could post photos of your rides so I can make a decision. Also would really like to hear your comments about when you did you tint and if after it was put on was it darker than you wanted it or too light.
P.S. I thank you for your insight in advance as I know there are numerous posts on this topic. Also if someones got photoshop skills and time would be cool to see my ride fitted with 50 or 35 tint. photo attached

Personally I think darker is better. My car has 35%. I think thats the legal limit in my state.
Here are some badly photoshopped pix. Doing this on my laptop with a touchpad
Anyways just to give you a basic idea...
No Tint
50% Tint
35% Tint

Just had my 01 Silver/Black GS430 tinted 1 week ago. Decided to go with 35% Sun-Tek HP35.

I, too, was worried about metal film causing radio reception problems but metal films are supposed to reflect/reject heat better and last longer than most other films. The new ceramic and carbon films are expensive and in my opinion, haven't been out long enough to prove that they will not fade.
My research concluded all films fade but metal films seems to last longer. Sun-Tek is not regarded as the best but very good for the money.
Bottome line, I have noticed no decrease in AM radio reception. FM might have decreased a bit. I will take pictures later today if you want to see what 35% looks like on all windows except the windshield. Going to NELOC in a few hours.

Taken on 3/11 @ NELOC - N.E. Lexus Owner's Club meet. The car in front (Flashgordon's 606hp Beast) has no tint and the car behind (SaddleLex) has the windows down for reference. Gives you a true idea how dark the tint is without much reflection.
Enjoy..
