Default New NAV HD installed

Hi, Guys,
Received and installed the new HD for my 98 nav system. Old version was 98. New version is dated July 2004. Differences are hugh when coming from a 98 map. Colour scheme is different and with way more detail. At least my street is now listed. The townships are shown also eg. Hollis, Howard Beach etc. Package came with full instructions on installing the HD but no instructions on location and removal of the computer. The computer is in the trunk on the right side, below the mat.
Three 10mm nuts secure it, removing the cables is easy. Follow the instructions from there you will be fine. If you currently have the 98 version, It will be worth it to upgrade.
PS. Does anyboby watch 24, last week the GS was used ,this week the LS. Apparently we are getting Air time.

How much and where did you get your HD from? I think if you take it to a local Lexus dealer they keep your old drive.

The 2005 update is using map data compiled in 2004, that's what he meant.

Hi Guys,
I'll take pictures tomorrow and try to post them. Also whenever it 's "thinking" the Hour Glass comes up, my 98 version never had that feature.

This is a big deal to me, My whole town consists of 1 main street & its missing about 40 streets throughout the town. Im excited to see the updated pics, was this just the Lexus dealer upgrade disc? I know last year they told me it was a waste of money & Id probably not even notice a difference.. This is good news!

So this isnt the disc, this is the HD, gotcha. I thought the Navi had a DVD that was updated ever so often (yearly) but I guess I could be wrong. So to upgrade my 98 navi I need a new HD? ok.

yep no disk till the 2001 models....easy way to remember is that the ones with buttons all around the nav is a HD the ones with partial buttons near the driver is a CD.. and this is the 2004/2005 upgrade with i think over 1,000,000 streets..the old one had 400,000 in 98 i think.

PM me a few addresses and I'll check on the upgraded Nav for this in my LS when I get back home this weekend. I know I owe that to one other person as well from another post.
