front brakes

Hi Guys ,
need some help here, just changed my front brakes, no problem,removed housing,opened brake fluid container.pushed back calipers,installed new pads(plus old shims) and put it back together.NOW my pedal feels soft when i apply the brakes,drove it around awile,still soft,did i @#$% it up?NEED help.The car still stops,Just the feel is different.

Did you bleed the brakes? You might have some air trapped in the brake lines...

you need to bleed the brakes, to do this you have to open a little screw on the caliper and get a friend to push the brake pedal ONE TWO THREE and HOLD... 2 seconds... realease, do this three times, then it will be better hope this helps

HI Guys
Did not bleed the brakes,read somewhere that the brakes on these cars should not be bled,mess's with the traction control,and VSC. however i am willing to try the bleeding thing,need procedure though,please post such.thanks.

its in my other post

just open the little valve, press the pedal three times and on th third time hold it until nothing is coming from the valve anymore, do this about 3 or 4 times on each brake, then close the valve

Question Do I need to have the engine running(hydraulics) and do I need to open the brake fluid container?

but in the end add a bit more brake fluid as you will most likely have drained some

Is it really that complicated to replace your rotors, etc?

I am thinking about upgrading rotors, brake pads, brake lines, and maybe calipers too....should a toyota dealership be able to do this easily? (Lexus is an hour away, plus I know the toyota people here)

Yes and Yes!!!

How is a Hydraulic pump going to work without power to it? Your car has to be on with motor running and the cap of the brake resiviour off.

I only know this because i just did my brakes with new fluid (Motul), lines, rotors and pads.

i'm an idiot, but i never thought the car should be running, but now that i think about it idid no that that the resevoir had to be open

Hi guys,
Bled the brakes this morning ,NO change, the brakes are still spongy,will have to take it in i guess,AYE WELL,
sometimes you just can't win,
