Question

Hi guys,

I just received the SRT/HFI for my 2001 GS430. I know I can installed it myself with a little help from my friend. However, I started to question myself in regards to the warrenty violation. Since my car is pretty new and I also bought an extend warrenty, (I know, I know, I shouldn't have ) should I take the risk of voiding my warrenty by installing the aftermarket intake by myself? Should I just take my car to my dealer (Longo) and have them install this aftermarket part. Longo's service consultant (Perry) had informed me that if Longo install the part then my warrenty would still be valid.

Can you guys see my dilemma now........ should I do it myself or spend the money and have the dealer install it for the warrenty sake. Ahaaaaaaaaa

thanks

Kaju

Lessee.....you wanna know if you should waste your warranty plus your extended warranty (which I would guess you got to drop at least $1200 on) for the sake of saving a few bucks on an install of an aftermarket part that your dealer has already said WON'T void your warranty if they do it????

I don't see the dilemma...........spend a few extra bucks or just flat **** a few thousand away????

Gosh......what would I do here??????

Okay,

I feel much better now. I just spoke to (Perry R) from Longo and he said as long as I do a clean job and the car does not have problem due to the intake, my warrenty will still be valid.
All I have to say is that Perry is awesome from Longo. If anyone has any concern in regards to your Lexus in So Cal, go to him. He has a modified GS just like most of us here!

Hi Will,

I think I can sleep now. After I get my car done, I will bring it up and meet up with you sometime this month on the weekend. Hacienda Heights sounds like a good place to meet.

Mooretorque,

Thanks for the insight. I sure feel stupid after reading your reply. All that college education still didn't do me any good. I am ashamed of myself. (I am not worthy!)

Kajukenbo, I apologize for the tone of my post........on re-reading after taking all my medicine, it certainly seems more condescending than I intended. My assumption (and assumptions are generally mistakes) that Longo might look with less than favor on a powertrain mod, esp if installed outside their service bay. Obviously your dealer is a bit more enlightened than mine (and I have the misfortune to have only one in the entire state) and the current word is that they are not going to encourage even L-Tuned parts (something which I'll be exploring in more detail very soon). I can just imagine how they'd react to screwing around with things that actually make the engine go.

At any rate, I was a little concerned that you weren't quite thinking it through.......but your last post certainly explains things........Longo obviously friendly. And now that you have their definite blessing either way, it is time for you to add the holy water of power!!!!!!

Mooretorque,

No apology is needed. Your advice certainly make sense to me. If it weren't for your comments, I wouldn't have called the dealership to inquire about the install. I am just glad that you came and helped me. Now I can feel so much better installing the intake this weekend. Too bad that you are not in So Cal, Perry from Longo could have been a great resource to you.

thanks again for the comments
