Initial question:

https://www.clublexus.com/vb/showthr...threadid=18137

Well, I was at my parents' place this weekend, and I want to confirm, that bother their SC & LS400, both has the 1-2 sec crank up hesitation. Although this does not necessarily mean that this is 'normal', or a good thing, it does appear typical for the 400 engines. I'm still going to dig for a techincal explanantion somewhere, somehow.

I feel better about mine now, but again, I'm very curious to find out why this wait is engineered as part of the engine / ignition desgin.

I know what RM stated before, just want to hear it for myself, y'know.

RealMarty, I will find th evidence!

My LX450 has crank up lag too, whenever sombody else drives my car they always put it in drive when it's not on thinking it is cause they cranked it so long.

Wink

I have long suspected that it is to give the oil pump a chance to get a little lube into the top end......but I've never asked a tech. Certainly, the engine could fire almost immediately.....Chevy and Nissan have long been that way. Dexter, if you find a definitive answer, pls post.........inquiring minds want to know!!!
