there is a plug already for power (same plug for the autodimming)

but there is a sequence you need to do in order to setup the coordinate N W S W. i read it before but forgot, maybe someone else can chime in

sure. first of all taking out the old one and putting in the new one is no problem, it's plug and play. however when you start the car the compass won't work, it will show ** i believe. there is a way you hold the "autodim" button to put it in test mode, and then you basically drive the car around the block in circles to let the compass sync up itself

so how to put it in test mode and how to turn the car that i am not sure

Try asking someone with an 01' manual. It might say how to do it in there.

The '01 auto mirror is very simple to set up. As for the installation I can't comment. Anyway I just reset mine from Ohio parameters to Alaska. All you do is hold the button down for at least 6 seconds until you see a number appear. Next, push the button until your number for your zone number appears. Don't touch anything leave it alone. After a few seconds self calibration starts. If self calibration is succesful, as it was in my case, the correct direction heading will appear after a few seconds. If the letter C appears after the self calibation, then there's a strong magnetic field nearby and you will need to drive in a counter-clockwise circle 3 times. An empty parking lot is good for this. The key to setting up the mirror is you must be sitting still, no movement unless you receive the "C" code.

Thanks a lot for the info.

Just got the rear view mirror from another member in the classifieds and needed to make sure it would work on my GS.
