Question 98 GS4 Pricing?

Hey guys,
Friend of mine is selling white 98 GS400 w/ 55K miles and fully loaded (HID, Nav, Heated seats, traction, rear spoiler, 17' Chrome, etc.). He just bought a 05 MBZ E320 and I told him I might be interested.
How much should I offer? I've checked edmunds.com $16.5K and KBB $18.2K (private party).

I really wanted to get 01+ GS430 however, If I can acquire this car for a lot less I could use that $$ for mods.

Thanks,

Hey man

$16.5 would be a good price with the mileage.

Like he said, 16.5 K would be a good price. There really is very little that a 430 (2001) has over a 98 GS400 with the equipment you listed. The ML is a better sound system but if you plan to upgrade thats a moot point. You got the HIDs so no problem there. The new NAV is supposed to be better but at least you got NAV in there OEM. You will probably want to change out the rims at some point and either use the stock 17's for winter depending on your climate or just sell em. The chromes should be fairly easy to market if that is what you choose to do. And to top it off, the 400 is just slightly faster off the line than the 430, has the same HP and top end, can take the torque converter without CEL problems, and no issue with a STB interferring with the engine cover. A typical 2001 model car would be 4 years old and average miles would be 48-60 K so your friends car is about the same mileage as a typical 2001 anyway. I say if the car has been well cared for and maintained it is an excellent choice over a 2001+ GS430. And as you said the money you save would make a nice start on rims/tires suspension, aero, tailights (if you want that 2001+ look), etc. So, when ya gonna pull the trigger?

Thanks for the info.
Already have an idea for the mods: Wald/Vertex kit, stoptech BBK(I hope TM Eng. still have these for sale), iforged or put my Z Gettins, Tein CS, SRT intake, SRT TC, 01 tails, and Carson tuned exhaust. Did I miss anything????

Thanks again,
