Grounding Kit question

I know the difference when there's a poor ground. I used to have my 1500 watt sound system grounded to the car, performance was horrid. Then I grounded the amps individually, directly to the Optima Yellow top, and sudden improvement. But I was drawing over 150 amps. How much juice does an auto tranny need? 5amps at most?
It's just hard to see how such few differences in electrical power and response would matter so much.
Based on the explanation I gave above, the problems come in when one device's ground is shifted relative to another's, and this can occur dynamically, based on what currents are flowing where and when. It affects the switching voltages of logic circuits and threshold voltages of analog circuits, both of which are referenced to the individual device's ground. This in turn affects signal timing and levels, and when/what decisions are made. It's almost like if you were to saw your VCR in half and put the control circuits for it in a nearby noisy factory full of electrical equipment while leaving the tape mechanism next to your TV, and run really long wires from one to the other. Nothing is really drawing that much current, but I guarantee you a scheme like that wouldn't work unless drastic measures were taken to connect the grounds, and to keep noise out of the system.
