How the battery? GS300 or 400/430? I kinda feel that starter issues are common in the V8's as opposed to the 6's

Is it real?
I went down Lexus dealership for asking starter fixed but they quoted around $450.
How come everyone says $900?
I don't think that will cost much,though.

Good luck

I had a problem with my starter. It degraded over time..one or two tries degraded to about 2 to 3 minuntes of turning the key. I would be fine for a week then give me problems for 3 weeks, then be ok for a while. If it didn't start on the first click, I'd keep trying until it started. Cold starting was a real problem, but a warm engine helped on restarting. I guess wear plus dirt/grime plus other factors are a cause. Mine had to be changed at 130k. Cost me $1200 at the dealer. A GS400 starter is mounted in the engine...there's more labor charge to install...a full days job.

Default starter probelm

ok got my car back today from the stealership and they diagnosed the battery as the culprit. This was the first time i left the stealership happy as they said the battery was still under warranty since i purchased it back in late 2002 (pro-rated warranty on Premium batteries for 7yrs). I only paid for 1/2 hr labor and the warranty covered 75% of the new battery. Im a happy camper today.
