My friend has a 99 gs 400 with eibach springs and 19 inch mille evo's..At around 70mph he feels a shake in the steering wheel like a rim is unbalanced, but, the rims are from tire rack and they should be properly balanced..Anyone experience this? I appreciate any help..Thank you..

Justin,

wheel + tyres out of balance could be due to lots of reasons. though tyrerack is a very good company(i have been their customers for over 10years), any tech guys could make mistakes. or may be during shiiping one of the lead piece fell off the wheels. that is way the co. has a policy of customer satisfaction is #1.

if your bud just got the wheels not long ago, call the rack, and they will tell you to go to one of their local authorised installer to have them rebalance them. the same thing happened to my bro's tyres too.

will

that shacking problem does not sound at all normal. I have HRE 19's and I have been well over 70 mph with no shacking. your buddy needs to have that checked out before some ting happens. no joke, get it checked out.

Default hope this helps you

the reason the car shakes because of 2 reasons,
1) allignment 2) balancing. Go to your Lexus dealer and have them done it for you. They are the only ones who can do a good job to it. I found it surprising that your car shakes only after high speed, when I first got my 20''s, the car shakes at 75~80 mph, and after that it's dead smooth. even better at 100 mph.

Trust me on this, you will like to have the DEALER do this for u!! I tried 2 other allignment shops, waste of money and time. the car still shakes!!!

i copied this from a section in club lexus , under 20 inch rims.

i think your rims are fine.

i just put new brakes on my gs400 and i thought it would stop my shaking in the wheel, to my suprise it did not, i took it to lexus and they had to do a electronic allignment, and it was fixed, that is the only way that will fix it, also you can get some rim rings...

good luck
steve

I have the same wheels on my car..and i got them from Tirerack...the rims didn't come with hubcentric rings...call tirerack and they will send you 20 of them for free...the shaking is because the 19" wheel doesn't sit snug against the hub of the car and just literally shakes at high speeds

TAKE MY ADVICE because I have the same wheels from the same place
