Default Help Guages wont work

Yesterday I parked my car and when I came back to turn it on it went dead, I wasent worried because I know that from time to time my cable comes loose from the battery. so I got out and tightend it, my car came on but my guage lights would not light up neither did the lights in the climate control. and when I got to a lighted area I noticed that the guages were not working at all, so I do not know how fast I am going or how much gas I have left. can some one please help me I checked some of my fuses and they were good. is there any other fuse boxes hidden away that I need to look at?

You need a new battery. Your car will start up fine, but the computer system will go to the fail safe mode and keep the car running by shut off the gauges and some another function for you get to the dealership/shop. Get a good new battery and the problem will go away.

I think your alternator went bust. Either that, or something is not grounded properly and causing all this electrical malfunction.

Have you ever run out of gas? It does amazing things to your car. I was stuck in a hellish 8-hour traffic and I could see I was going to be dead stuck in the middle of the road with no gas left. Literally, I could see my ecu shutting things off one by one. First the defi went, then the audio went, then the a/c went.....It goes on like that, lucky I managed to drive into a parking lot and not got stuck in the middle of the road....
