Ok I'll explain one more time. I'm not talking any modifications or aftermarket stuff I'm talking Lexus required 30k 60k 90k 120k etc........ If you get to know the dealership and salesman etc... You can try and hook up with a mechanic on the side. As for the guy above this who said he has a great mechanic and service writer you keep going to the dealership and paying retail someone has to be an idiot. You probably just bought Debbie a new outfit with the overpricing she charges you you idiot

mafiajoey is correct...I have this same hookup at a dealership as well it is great...a friend of mine actually works there and he can do anything for me at half the price...just the other day someone purchased an 05 GS430 with the 17's..a week later the came back and changed out his potenzas for michelins...so the service dept had used tires they could do nothing with sitting there and I needed new tires got them for 100 bucks, installed and balanced..yeah i know the stock tires suck but for 100 bucks why not

The only potential downside is where do you go if something goes wrong? I mean, I know we're not talking about major stuff here, but sometimes people do make mistakes, and the mistakes could end up costing you more than it would have cost had you gone through the dealership. I'm not saying it's not a good idea -- it is. Knowing my luck, however, I could see my car getting damaged or something else going wrong and ending up holding the bag.

hmmh... isn't there something in the lexus tech's employment agreement which does not allow them to do side jobs? think about it...the company invests a lot of time and money training them.I know that in most companies employees do do this but it is against company policy and if they are discovered, they may face certain administrative action.
I myself have mine done by a former lexus tech. yes I do save a lot of money.

I thought everyone knew that they could do this... but that it should be kept on the HUSH HUSH...to protect the tech's job. dunno...i'm just concerned about the tech you just "outed." I dont know if they have the same policy with the Lexus corp there, but I'm just puttin my $0.02.

I agree with you 100% and that's why I'm closing this thread. Gentlemen, please understand that this kind of info should not be floating around here on Club Lexus. Lexus Corp. browses these forums on a routine basis and would not be happy reading this kind of info. What happens between you and a tech off Lexus grounds is between you and the tech only. Let's keep it that way...
