Thumbs up Performance Upgrades ???

I'm sure this has been asked before but i was curious to know, how you guys feel about a supercharger vs a turbo or even a twin turbo kit for the GS430 ???. I saw these all over and i know turboeast offers the turbo kits and was curious as to why not so many people on the club have them installed and why ??? Thanks in advance.......

Well for the folks on the West coast all their installations are in-house only. TurboEast and SRT are for now the only (other than custom) FI solutions for the GS4xx and both do not have shippable kits. Not sure why folks on the East that want FI dont go that route.

more and more people here have the superchargers on their car. i think it's more like best bang for the money.

there is only one member i know of with single turbo setup, and it's one of a kind, so it must be expensive

srt has the tt setup, but apparently it takes them forever to just do one?

Okay, that sounds helpful, whats the price difference thou can't be much more for the turbo and how do the transmissions hold up to the power gains, and how is the reliablitity of the car with these power adders ???

I recently pulled my SC off the car. I couldnt increase my HP with the kit I was using to the point I wanted too. I am now going Turbo. I previously was running 389 at the wheels. I am expecting to hit 400-450 with the turbo. The trannys are junk with the extra hp but I think that is really the only weak link in the drive train. ONce you add the HP at a minimum the car will not shift properly under WOT and will require a valve body upgrade again bare minimum here. At worst your tranny will go in under a year like mine did and you will wnat to do a full race build with upgraded Torque Converter. A tranny cooler is reccomended also from the get go.

yeah morris is right about the tranny, once you are around 380 to 390 hp at the wheels, the tranny will start to slip pretty bad and it's no good, unless you upgrade the tranny. i have heard that from two different sources

I was at the shop today, it came in yesterday afternoon. It was a place called transworld, they did it for 2600 includijng Valve body clutches and sprag. They will fix it for free the first time it breaks too. I also had the TC redone to 2600 and added a stator pump. I should be driving in about two weeks

The thing that kills mileage is not the turbo, in fact wtih my SC I got better Hwy Cruising mileage than stock. As long as you leave the cruise control on. The higher mileage came from better atomization of the air fuel charge, at least this is how it was explained to me. The problem is that as soon as you put your foot in it you are dumping a lot more fuel into the system for two reasons. One more aire is flowing so you have to add more fuel secondly and related to the first item is the fact that you are likelhyh to be using larger injectors which will also dump more fuel into the cylinders.

Mileage is reallly up to you, but once you taste that HP mileage will be an afterthought.
