Default Need Price Quote

As some of you know my fog lights were stolen last week. I decided to mention this to my insurance company. They were very nice and understanding and they told me that my insurance will not go up. They are coming to check my car next week. I know they will decide their own price but I would like to show them a quote. Can someone here give me a quote or do I have to go to a Lexus shop?

Here is what happend...both of my fog lights are gone with the housing...and the wires are cut. All you see where my fogs were is the piece of wire... I have a few scratches in the front, one long on the bumber. It's that noticeable, but you can see it.

BTW I am getting an alarm on my car along with my factory. I should have done this a long time ago. The alarm comes with a pager...

Sorry to hear they got stolen. They are easy to steal with only 2 screws. Carson has them for $174 shipped for the yellow ones and cheaper for the clear. I don't know if you have a deductible. Mine is $500 so I wouldn't claim it if someone stole mine. You can pm him or visit the site and call support. I got yellow ones from Gordon there. He took good care of me.

I got an aftermarket alarm on my GS. It was installed to coincide with my factory alarm. I got the prestige remote start pager alarm. The factory alarm is pretty good. It depends on what you are going to put in your car and how much it values man.

Contact your insurance company. If your Lexus service is one of their authorized repair shop, you are all set.

Default Re: Quote & The Claim

Hey listen I think you should go to your nearest Lexus dealership and get a quote from them and see what amount they come up with in charges including the cost of getting rid of the scratch on your front bumper. . . because a scratch thats noticeable detoriates the aesthetic appeal of your car and you sooo do-not want that happening

So like I said go to Lexus, get a full quote including everything and for the scratch you can go to the Lexus collision centre and trust me they do a thorough job my friend recently got into a small accident 99 GS300 and his front right headlight broke along with a small scratch on his bumper. He obviously went thru insurance and they not only changed his left headlight but his right headlight, bumper, sideskirts, chrome grill.

Remember if you go to Lexus they will include a premium in their charges but that way you get compensated comprehensively from your insurance company . . . and if the insurance company says that they will not pay the amount Lexus demands . . . then tell them I do not trust anyother mechanic to touch my car. . . . and if they ask why???

Well you tell them because of the severe trauma and shock you have suffered after the theft you do not feel comfortable getting service from anyone but the lexus dealership period!
Use this approach when it comes later on for filing your claim . . .
also if you are getting regular maintenance at Lexus dealership then you have an edge and can just show them the records and that would be your exact reason that you will not get the damages fixed from outside because you havent dealt with and gotten your car serviced from any other auto-shops and therefore you can only trust your Lexus dealership!

Like I said earlier my friend used the same reasoning I just told you above and the insurance got his car fixed from the Lexus dealership (also he used too and still gets his service done at Lexus its worth it trust me doesnt matter what mileage your car is unless you do it yourself)
If they ask you for more then one quote . . .jus go to like a Toyota dealership and get one from them beause they do a good job as well and the Collision centre is common for both Lexus and Toyota vehicles so you are still safe!
Good Luck with everything . . .

go get a quote from Lex dealer for entire repair for your insurance, which I'm sure will be super high, then do it yourself if insurance just gives you a check and you'll have extra loot.

Got a total estimate from Lexus...they didn't look at my car yet, over the phone deal. They put this in an e-mail and send it to me.

Fog Lights $236.00 each
Connectors $40.00
Labor $424.80

Total estimate $936.80, charges may be more depending on what the tech finds after looking at the car.

I didn't tell them about the scratch...it's not close to the fog light area. so I am thinking if i should even mention it. My car is dirty and it's hard to see the scratch.

Should I show it the insurance guy anyway?

Exclamation ScratcH!

well if the scratch was there before the lights got stolen then its not right to claim $$$ for that
but however if you have noticed the scratch after they stole the lights then definitely you should get a quote from Lexus Collision Centre . . . Thats what I suggested you a number of times! earlier as well to get a full package quote in order to be compensated fairly for your loss! However its your decision whether you want to do that or not but if I were you and the thieves scratched my car I would let the insurance company know . . .
and trust me I think your premium is likely to go up or some other surcharges/fees why? because thats what the insurance business is all about . .. it doesnt matter what claim you make but they will make there money of you somehow or the other because after all they are not settling claims for chariTY!
So my suggestion is stop being lazy get that car washed! and try to figure out whether that scratch was there before the lights got stolen or after? and if you notice it was after they got stolen try to see if you can touch it up with some paint (you can get a small bottle from the dealers its 10 bucks) and then wax/polish with clear coat if you have too . . .
if that doesnt make a difference then you should definitely let the insurance company know that this is damage that they should compensate you for as well!
Hurry up thoough before they settle yyour claim . . . otherwise they might not consider this and trust me if its the thieves who scratched your car man I would get the insurance to get that repaired because otherwise its gonna cost you an arm and a leg if you get it done yourself @ Lexus BodyShop !!!! The only reason I say this is because they are the only ones who can bring back the glossiness & OEM look back in your car's body paintwork!

[QUOTE=lexxtasy]well if the scratch was there before the lights got stolen then its not right to claim $$$ for that

I am not going to claim the scratch, I think I can take care of that myself. Plus, I don't think its done by the theives...because the scratch is in the center of the car and it was probably there before from driving in the snow. I just happend to notice it when I found out that my fogs were missing and my intial thought was that it was done by the theives.

I talked to my insurance, according to them my insurance will not go up and that's why I am going along with this...and all I really want is my fogs put back.
