When you finish filling up on gas make sure you securely screw back the fuel tank tap cover until you hear a few clicks and then close the fuel tank lid!
This is what I have observed in GS's if check engine light is on and then turns off after filling up . . . also you sensor might have some problem in it too in which case you might wnna have Lexus have a look at it!
Good Luck

Do you just make this stuff up? You need to run a diagnostic check and see if there are any codes stored in the system. Some of the things that could cause the check engine light to come on in relation to fuel are fuel pump control signal, fuel pump ECU. However without a code it will be very hard to track down.

Uhhh, he's right . Leaving the gas cap partially off / insecurely tightened will definitely pop your CEL on. Note this post was in the wrong forum and is for a second gen GS... not sure if it does that for a 1st gen but will do it on most OBD2 cars. The vacuum seal on the cap is critical for the evaporative-control sensor to work.

Regardless, I think this is one of the codes that might have to be read to reset. Dealer should do that for free for you.

Cool

I missed the 1998 part , thought it was for the first gen. Also his other post about motor bearings causing the tilt not to work on the same car made me think he was clueless. Apologize, for the slam on this one Even if the cap was loose wouldn't it pop the code as soon as the car was started, not once the tank was low?

Went To Auto Palace And The Code Came Up With Either

Loose Cap, Leak In System, They Reset It And After The Car Was Low On Gas A Couple Days Later The Light Came Back On?

He Used The Acton Code Reader.

I Turn The Gas Cap And Until It Keeps Clicking , Does It Suppose To Stop
Clicking After 3 Clicks?
