Default Va. Tollbooth eats GS430 for lunch....

Coming from work in Reston, Va, my electronic toll booth gadget thingy (ezpass) sends the signal for the gate arm to rise. Of course you can guess what happened, it comes down hard against A-pillar and the windshield. Damage was actually minor, scratchs and white and orange paint on the A-pillar and paint across the windshield. Cursed out the the tollbooth operator and of course the state will not take responsibility for any damaged caused (posted sign). Got home got out my tube of Scratch-X, and some rubbing and elbow grease and she is good as new. But of course I am still pissed. So a warning for toll commuters, the ones in Va love GS430 and I am sure they are spreading the word their brethren in other states that Lexus GS's taste so yummy and make a nice crunching sound when you bite into them Buuurrrrrp!!!

Default That's not right...

Whoa...waitaminute...they take no responsibility?? i don't care what any
sign says, if the operator can't wait a few seconds for the car to drive through OR
if the gate malfunctions and causes damage to my car then SOMEONE is for
darn sure gonna' pay for damages. that's just not right if it were
me then some manager or DPW person is gonna' get a visit from me.

Glad to hear your car is okay though. remind me to go to the Lexus East meet
via another state. lol
oh, wait, i own a GS300. maybe just a snack and not a full meal for the gate.

I don't think the mere fact that a sign is posted means they will be legally not responsible, that depends on what caused the mistake for the gate to come down before your car went through completely.

yea, I have a appointment monday. But the damage was more cosmetic than physical. But at the time I guess my anger made it more than what it was. I remember years ago they had a big problem with the gates so the installed balsa wood gates I think. Like I said, it was mostly paint that rubbed off on the A pillar and I didn't need the aggrevation. I will go in and see what they have to say. See If I can at least get a detail out of it.

Did the Scratch-X remove the paint that rubbed off on the car? I ask this because I have a small amount of orange colored paint near my exhaust tip from where I backed into a fench.

Yes, Scratch X is a great product, It removed the paint and scratches. I use it all the time. It also great with removing nicks from head lights too. I swear by the product. But don't expect it to remove deep scratches but light one disappear and paint too.

yeah i think they will still be legally responsible if you make a deal out of it.

imagine if someone is drivign the sc430 with the top down and the gate falls on top of the head. i see a major law suit
