Just wondering if the touch screen give you the 'miles to go' or mgp info.. or even if the GS400 w/o navi gives you that info? I know it does radio stations and outside temp.. but what else does it show?

Reason I ask is that Im looking for a 98-00 GS400, but not sure if It would be to my advantage to get one with the touch screen navi.

does anyone know if there is an actual online manual?

 

No, the 98 - 00 GSs do not have the trip computer features that the LS of the same years or newer Lexus like the RX330 have where you get some of the info like you mention (current mpg, avg mpg, miles in tank remaining etc) without having the navigation option. Given the choice, I'd get one with Navigation

 

i am curious, does the gs430 dvd nav system has that feature then? i know the sc430 has it

 

I'm pretty sure any Lexus with Nav has those feature, even the first year it was offered (it's on my 98 LS with Nav). Its the models without Nav where some have part of the functions and some don't.

 

Guys - I have a 98 gs400 with NAV, and if you enter in a destination, it WILL show you 'Miles to go' - IF you hit the SHOW TURNS button, it will show distance to each turn and where.

It will also show you current MPG, and average speed, previous history of MPG. Distance on tank, miles to go until out of fuel, Estimated time of arrival, etc.

Am I not understanding the question properly? I think it does do what you are asking.

Yes, he's asking what the GS WITHOUT Nav shows. Some Lexus models without Nav also display this stuff either on the dash or radio area in a text display. The RX330 he has (assuming it does not have Nav) shows the mpg, etc on an info panel (I conveniently have had one as a service loaner while my LS is in for regular service this weekend and noticed this featuer).

 

The Navi on my RX330, it give me MPG and Cruise range, which is basically Distance on tank. The 'distance on tank' is basically why I would get the navi if it came with it. I drive around 120 miles a day to work and back and love to get the maximum miles until I have to fill up.

** Is it really hard to find a GS400 blk/blk, HID, navi, chrome rims? only ones I have found are either out of state(of CA) or have salvage titles. I guess I'll go and post a WTB in the classified section.

Thanks guys... as for the car, its a 99 GS400 with 95k miles - loaded with navi. Im actually buying it out of state and having it delivered to me, so I will post more pics and descriptions when it arrives.

This was the car I've always wanted, but was never one available when I had the funds. So fo rthe past couple of months, I have been very patient and finally took the big step yesterday. I wanted blk w/blk interior w/navi and HID with stock chrome rims. I didnt realize this combination ir really hard to find.

I just dont want to talk about it too much til its actually in my driveway. I also just hired an inspector to give me a report before all the paperwork is signed.
