Default Black-out chrome trim?

Just bought a black 99 400 and want to get rid of the chrome trim on the bumpers and doors, I think it looks cheesy. Any suggestions? I heard of a black cover up tape specifically for this (some kind of vinyl), but I can't find it on Google.

BTW, any sites with common mods GS owners do? I came from a Maxima and there were 100's of them, all condensing the common mods and instructions, but I'm having trouble finding the equiv. with the GS crowd.

Maybe you're right, but do you know where I can find pics of anyone that did this? I think it looks fine on the silver and white GS, but it doesn't flow IMO on the black, maroon, dark blue etc colors.

Nicola,

Welcome to ClubLexus and congrats on the new ride!

Please try the advanced search feature on our forum (similar to google, but pointed HERE) for your GS mods.

For example:

Black chrome trim searched on the GS forum got these results
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ck+chrome+trim

Blackout trim found this one
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...=blackout+trim

I recall a couple of others with other options (one had them painted)

Edit - here's a good starter thread for modifications
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-2nd-gen-1998-2005/52182-how-satisfied-are-you-with-your-modifications-long.html

So, let me get this straight. Chrome trim is "cheesy", but "black cover up tape" isn't?

If you hurry, you might be able to win those blue led washer nozzles on ebay...

Actually, it looks like it is just black plastic trim instead of chrome. I don't like chrome, wheels, trim whatever, it's cheap looking - in a spray paint can way. Thanks for the sarcasm, you're clever.

I usually don't try to be a pain in the ***, but I don't appreciate sarcasm from anyone, regardless of whether or not I'm new.

Guys, let's get this post back on track. Please be considerate of our new members and tone down the sarcasm AND the response to sarcasm.

I think it will look good on a black GS, but if you do it I think you should do it right and paint it, not use tape
