Default Veilside executive spoiler install question

hey i was wondering if anyone has just tapped on this spoiler instead of bolting it down?? like the way ppl tape down the roof spoilers. i rather not pay a couple of hundred to repaint the trunk when i sell the car eventually! thanks any input would help!

I bolted mine on my old GS, and the shop also added some epoxy to it to be sure it stayed. You could probably get away with storn double sided tape, the spoiler is light......but Im not sure I would go that route. Not to mention someone could just rip it off your deck lid.

I asked my body shop to use industrial 3M tape to hold it down. I did not want them to drill any holes into my trunk. So far so good.

I also taped mine down with 3M 5lbs Industrial Tape and it stays on like a champ......If and when the day comes that you need to take the wing off.....bump this old thread and tell us how easy it was to take it off

Jeff - no lip wing will cover the stock holes left by the stock spoiler...none. the Explosion wing comes very close though.

Just make sure you let your car sit in the sun for a few hours after install before hitting speeds greater than 60mph. The tape will act like glue and keep the wing planted to the trunk. Good luck...

I believe the DSR or Netz Sports one does as it mimics the OEM spoiler.

Now back to Veilside...

LIP WING = wing that either straddles the edge of the trunk lid or goes over it completely
like yours for example....nice lip wing

Netz Sports

this wing is more or less a modified stock wing which was shaved down to look like a Lip wing...but in actuality is not...notice how the pic shows it sits right on top of the deck lid with little parts of it barely going over the edge...IMO its not a lip wing...but i guess one could argue that

DSR

as you can see this wing is not even close to being a lip wing....it is more or less a modified stock wing from 98-00 GS's (depending on what part of the country you lived in, some dealers installed spoilers which were on the trunk lid and didnt flare out onto the quarter panel...and some did**see difference at bottom of post) that has also been shaved down but not as far as the Netz Sports wing...

on either of the wings you can't see through the bottom of them which is probably why some would think its a lip wing.

touchê neo...touchê

back to the veilside =P

You think about this stuff too much. LOL.

If it is on the trunk, I call it a wing/spoiler/tail ... I guess they are pretty synonymous to me. If there is no space between, the unit and the trunk, then I do make the distinction with the "lip" but not necessarily whether or not it overhangs.

I concede that by your definition of a lip wing, there isn't one that covers up the holes.

No, the Veilside does not cover the factory spoiler holes.

hey everyone,

i was wondering if anyone had any tips on installing this spoiler.. my body shop guys r having problems with it.. sayin it seems to be a little too narrow.. meaning it rubs the back fender when installed... any one encounter any problems?? (im using double sided tape if that matters)

for anyone who has this spoiler does the ends of the spoiler actually hit ure fenders or is there a mm gap between the spoiler and the fender??? thanks!!!!

Tony

i actually have the good double sided tape.. but it seems like the spoiler edges r hitting the fenders so its scratching the fenders.
